I guess I must be in the wrong place, I thought I lived in a representative republic , founded to be a place of freedom. I thought it was a place where one could work and no matter their station in life, and improve it. We were a country founded by individulist who were not willing to follow those that only fed the weakest link. We had compassion for our less fortunate fellow citizens, but still expected them to carry their own weight. Thomas Paine said "Commerce, That is what we are about!" Business is the engine that drives our economy. Businesses start up and fail everyday. Those that fail dust themselves off, either find jobs and are better assett to a company because of the experience, or start other business with the experience gained,! We had the right to succeed, but also the right to fail. Neither is garaunteed.We were tough people this country where I thought I lived, if we got hit we hit back and we were smart enough to know where to hit. We believed in God ,but left you to decide how you wanted to honor him. We had backbones and stood on our own two feet.We were the most prosperous nation on earth and every other nation envied and respected our ability to produce and develop anything.
Today it seems I live in a nation of followers, blindly looking for any leader no matter how empty the promises may be.
Illiterate blank slates who fail to solve their own problems, that think life will work out like a reality show, and some judge will bail us out based on the strength of our latest proformance not our underlying character or ability.We do not seem to look at our leaders with any form of reasoning or critical thinking. Both of our leading presidential candidates have voted for the economic bail out. Neither has a clear vision for a limited goverment and are only going to help foster a bigger intrusion in our lives. None of our leadership discusses balanced budgets or term limits in a serious fashion. We have a unsecured borders still 7 years after an attack on our homeland by foriegn nationals.A democratic congresswoman has suggested socializing our oil companies, they have dscussed taking over our IRA's to combine with Social InSecurity ( no dought to be managed in the same steller fashion). And we are not marching on the Capital steps with pitchforks demanding their heads???
I guess I must have the wrong address, I thought I lived in the USA once. Now it could be just anywhere.
